UNDERSTANDING THE SEASON OF 2023

READING: Isaiah 43:1-21

RECAP from 1st Jan 2023

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:5-18, Give thanks in all circumstances. It is important to give thanks to the Lord in all circumstances.
  •  Lamentations 3:22-24, Thank the Lord for His love is upon us. Let the word of Christ dwell in us.
  •  Colossians 3:15-17, Let us bring repentance where our friends have engaged in worldly music.
  •  Psalm 103:1-5, All that is within us should bless the Lord from our souls. Whatever the Lord has done for you in 2022, give thanks.

So many preachers have declared the word and the word of God tells us to declare a thing and it shall be established. A season is one of the periods of the year. A season is a division of the year based on
changes in weather, ecology and the number of daylight hours in a given region.

What could be the seasons of Uganda? Uganda has two seasons basing on our weather; the dry season and the wet season and this is basing on the physical. What does the bible say about seasons? It is easy to get discouraged when facing a difficult season in life and how quickly we begin to think that the season will last for the rest of eternity. When facing any season in life, it is important that we think spiritually or biblically. When you accept that sometimes seasons are dry and times are hard and that God is in control of both, then you discover that there is a sense of divine refuge or hope. Our hope is in God and not in ourselves as individuals. Let us remember that different seasons vary.

In Job 1 things were ok with Job and later he was tested to see whether he trusted the Lord. We need to know that in our journey as Christians, we have testing seasons. Job went through a season of
testing for his faith. We also have a season of silence. Sometimes God doesn’t change your situation because He is trying to change your heart. How many took off time to seek the Lord in stillness for 2023? The Lord already redeemed us and called us by name. Look at the previous three years. God fought for us during the season of Covid 19.

The Lord already redeemed us and called us by name. Look at the previous three years. God fought for us during the season of Covid 19. Fear not for the Lord has redeemed us. Let us not only look at the times but let us look unto the Lord.

We may not know what maybe ahead of us in 2023 but we need to understand what we have declared. Is what we have declared God’s will? The Lord is telling us that even through the tough season, He will be with us. The Lord has promised that He will be there for us. The Lord has loved us and lavished us with love. It is so easy to forget the Lord in tough times. Inquire of the Lord. What is the Lord telling you?

When there are family gatherings, do we preach the word of God? Let us continue to fish more people for the Lord. We need to glorify the name of the Lord. May we not hustle so much with people. The Lord didn’t create us for selfish reasons but for His own glory. Remember
that in all we do, we should do it for the glory of the Lord.

Let us humble ourselves in this season. Let us fish out those who are getting lost in worldly music and drinking. Children of the light should focus on dwelling on the light and also show light to those in darkness. We are witnesses of the Lord and there are so many things that the Lord has built things afresh. The Lord has chosen us in this season of 2023 to know Him deeper and deeper. Who is creating that new job, new avenue, new child? Etc. It is the Lord God.

Let us be witnesses of the Lord and He has chosen us as His servants. Let us be able to understand God more and more. Let us also believe the Lord even when He says that He will take us through
the waters or the fires. Let us take times to understand that it is God who created us and there is no other God.

Many times when challenges come, we divert from the Lord. Let us inquire of the Lord to understand this season. Remember that there are seasons where God can choose to be silent because He is
molding our hearts.

It is God who declared that we would be here in 2023. Remember that operation that God save you from, remember the accident God saved you from, remember when you had no child and the Lord gave you a child. Remember when you had no job and God gave you a job. Let us put away these foreign gods.

The Lord is saying a new thing. Let us ask the Lord to prepare us for this new season. What is it that the Lord has given you as a vision or as a scripture? May we be able to sit down and write down what the Lord is saying in this new season.

How are you preparing for this new season of 2023? God speaks to everyone differently. Do not forget humble beginnings and do not despise them. What have you learnt from the previous years? The Lord provided a road for healing. Let us honor the Lord. God is reminding us that He formed us and let us declare praises to Him. Let us trust our homes, businesses and children etc. to the Lord.
