READING: Jeremiah 1:1-14
A season is a time characterized by a particular circumstance or feature. There could be a season of spiritual awakening or a season for farmers to plant and also to harvest. A season can be a suitable or natural time or occasion for a certain occurrence.
In a dry season farmers clear their gardens and in a wet season they plant crops. A season is a period in a year associated with a particular activity or phenomenal. In Uganda, we have the wet and dry seasons.
Every season is characterized by a particular activity. Daniel 2:21 says, “And He changes the times and the seasons; Here moves kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”
God changes times and seasons, He sets up kings and to the wise He gives wisdom and also gives knowledge to the discerning. Don’t over dwell on the season because you may not know what is in it but if you seek the God of seasons more, then you will know what is in the season.
The Lord wants us to be more embedded in Him who provides the miracles more than the miracles. This could be a season where the Lord is guiding us with His word. We need to know who the leader of the season is. Sometimes even the territories where we are have a bearing in our seasons.
God is teaching us to seek Him more. God knew us before we were being formed in our mothers’ wombs. We are part of God’s creation and He knows everything about us. We should not dwell on foolishness but we should dwell on God.
It is God Himself who appoints us. You could be appointed for such a season. Appointments are endorsed in heaven before they manifest physically here on earth. It is God who has appointed us to serve in a particular season.
Even when the Lord who calls us to serve in a particular place, it is Him who places us there. Jeremiah’s season began with doubt and excuses and we too are like this. Some of us when we are called to serve we are in denial and we doubt if we can handle.
Isaiah 6:1-9 tells us that the Lord touched Isaiah’s lips and his season began. May the Lord help us in this season to touch our lips not to speak a lot but to spend time more in His will.
We should limit ourselves from excuses but prepare ourselves to serve. Isaiah 1:18-19, God desires that we should be willing and obedient in this season. Are you willing and obedient to do what the Lord is telling you in this season? To God it doesn’t matter whether you are young or old because Jeremiah was called when He was young and Abraham was called when He was old.
Jeremiah 32:27 says, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” Nothing is too hard for God. Go out and reach out to the people and tell them about the Lord. Don’t just hear and not act. Some people are seeing but are not perceiving. May we be able to do what is right in God’s sight.
Do not fear for fear is the weapon of the enemy and when you fear, you don’t fulfill God’s mandate. 1Timothy 2:7 tells us that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear but He gave a spirit of sound mind. May God equip us with sound minds.
May God help us to reach out to His people. Where has the Lord sent you? Maybe He will send you to Moroto or Mbale or Jinja etc. Go and preach the gospel wherever you are. Inquire of the Lord about what He is telling you. The Lord reaches out with His hand to us and in Numbers 8:12 the Israelites doubted Moses and the Lord told them that He speaks to Moses face to face. Do not despise the person that God could use to deliver a message to you.
Go and serve in this particular season. Understand these as on but seek the God of seasons more. As we share in the word of God, let us speak what is right. What is that rhema word that the Lord has put in your mouth and He wants you to declare it?
Jeremiah 1:10 says, “See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.”
What is the Lord telling you to uproot? God could be telling you to uproot these earthly things like in Galatians 5:19. May be God is telling us to uproot envy, corruption, unforgiveness, unrighteousness, adultery, idolatry and to uproot all evil with in us.
Jeremiah 2:20-23, God planted us as choice vines in this season to serve Him. The Lord is watching to see if we fulfill His word in this season.
