READING: 1 Thessalonians 5:5-11

What does being grateful mean to you?

Being grateful means expressing thanks especially to another person.

It is appreciating benefits received.

Let us armor our hearts with gratitude ammunition to the Lord. The Lord has taken us through so many things like covid 19 and Ebola, so let us be grateful. We are children of the light and let us not be the darkness. Traversing from the darkness to the light of 2023 so much has happened. This time the night was full of voices or word of gratitude to the Lord more than the noise of people partying.

The Lord desires that all those who are children of the light should not be involved in the dancing at night. Let us not sleep when such things are happening but let us be sober because our journey in seeking the Lord and doing His will is continuous. We should not be children who complain but let us give gratitude to the Lord.

Seek more of what the Lord is saying rather than what the world is saying. The Lord is telling us to go and be mindful of the breastplate and to be hopeful. Have you prepared yourself for eternal life? The Lord is telling us go stand as the children of the Light.

God is telling us to put on the helmet of salvation. We obtain salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. When you speak in the spiritual realm through prayer the Lord equips. Put on the helmet of salvation. Whether we are resting, the Lord will communicate with us and He will tell us His will. Those who rest in the Lord will always be in His vineyard and in the arms of the Lord.

We have a choice to make every day to give thanks and to live with a heart of gratitude. It is not always easy to ensure that we get this task done. Life is hard and it crushes us in different ways, both good and bad. When things are good, it is easy to give thanks to the Lord and when life is hard, it is not easy to give thanks.

Encourage one another, encourage those who have lost people and those who have lost jobs etc. We should encourage one another and build one another up. Encourage the priests, the vicar and build one another up. Remember to also give time to the Lord more.

We should uplift our faith as in vs. 8. Let us remember to tithe this year and we should not cheat God. Let us not only tithe in money but let us tithe in time. Make sure that there is time for the Lord and ensure to watch the gates of prayer.

This is the time we need to dig deep and keep our gratitude alive. May the Lord guide us and help us keep our gratitude alive. Let us also remember that gratitude is a weapon and the devil wants us to give into hopelessness. Job brought repentance for his thinking. Let us not enter into hopelessness and remember that God is our fortress.

In this year 2023, equip your heart with a bible verse or scripture as ammunition. What scripture have you asked the Lord to give you to keep you? Gratitude is a fierce weapon and armor your heart with the word of the Lord because it is a weapon in the camp of the enemy. The same Lord who took us in 2022 is the same God who will take us through 2023.
