Fathers’ Union, St. Andrew’s COU Bukoto redefines order, class, & quality on St. Peter’s Day

On the 28th of June, 2026, St. Andrews Fathers’ Union celebrated their annual St. Peter’s Day in commemoration of their patron saint, Apostle Peter. The celebrations were held under the theme “Responsible fatherhood.” The fathers led in all three services and took part in service leading, praise and worship, and the music of the day.

Samuel A. Bakutana, the provincial president of the Father’s Union, preached a message on responsible fatherhood, anchoring it on three major points: generational thinker, model disciple, and committed trainer. He did urge the fathers to take up position and take the lead in the training of their children and homes.

3 levels of leadership were in attendance:

  1. Patrick the Parish Chair,
  2. Eng. Moses the Diocesan President’s representative
  3. Canon Samuel, the Provincial President.

In attendance were several MU leaders at parish & diocesan levels too. The union was able to enroll 10 new members during the main celebration service at 11:30am. The fathers’ union, also through their chairman, fulfilled a partial pledge of 100 bags of cement towards the St. Andrews Courts and pledged to accomplish the remaining 200 bags before the year ends.

Fathers also did host their wives to a luncheon at Princeville Gardens in Kanyanya near Bahai; a total of 150 guests were in attendance. At the reception, the newly enrolled members were given the privilege of cutting cake with the guest of honor. The afternoon session also did have a question-and-answer session led by the chief guest, Mr. Samuel A. Bakutana. The questions ranged from sexuality, finances, and communication in marriage. The photo booth at St. Andrew’s COU Bukoto spiced up the day as couples posed to capture moments.

The chairman of the Fathers’ Union at St. Andrews Church of Uganda, Bukoto, Mr. Kabenge Patrick, thanked the guests for honoring his invitation and celebrated his entire committee. He also brought to our notice that this year is the 49th celebration and that next year, the Fathers’ Union of St. Andrew’s Church will be making 50 years. He noted that there will be activities leading to the annual celebration in June 2027. The celebrations were launched by the vicar of St. Andrew’s Church of Uganda, Bukoto, the Reverend Patricia Laaki.

As a union, we strive to build men who will lead their families into a Godly path; this is being done through the discipleship course Every man a worrier, and through the different engagements on a day-to-day basis

We would love to extend our gratitude to the clergy of St. Andrew’s Church of Uganda Bukoto, the executive, and the parish council for ably supporting this union; we would also love to thank the almighty God for making all this happen.
