REDEMPTION FROM LIMITATIONS BY OBEDIENCE AND THE BLOOD OF JESUS

script. Ref: 2 kings 13

Redemption is the action of saving or being saved from sin, error or evil.

Limitations are a restriction or limiting rule or circumstance.

Or in Law– a limitation is a legally specified period beyond which an action may be defeated or a property right does not continue.

  • In 2 kings 13, we see king Jehoahaz praying to God for help…but even when God helped him to deal with his troubles, he continued to sin following the evil example of Jeroboam.
  • Same to us, we continue to sin despite God helping us in many troubles.
  • But in 2 kings 14-19; a new king Jehoash of Israel visited Elisha the servant of God for help and he guided him on how to deal with the Aramean’s (his enemies) throw a prophetic action of striking arrows but the king *limited* himself to striking only 3 times, and yet he should have struck 5 or 6 times to eliminate his enemies for good.
  • Sometimes we limit ourselves while praying and thus need to *shoot*as many *arrows*as possible to the enemies’ camp to deal with limitations in our lives like jobs, businesses, journeys, lands, children, families, sickness, finances, among others. – An example of this is seen with Prophet Elijah while praying for rain in 1 kings18 – He prayed 7 times for the rains to re-appear, thus prophetic number 7.
  • God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th day- thus 7 days of a week today.
  • Prophet Elijah prayed 7 times for the rains to re-appear.
  • The bible tells us that King David had a vow to praise God 7 times a day and 3 times a day he would pray (just like Daniel did)
  • We need to hearken to the Lord *1 Kings 18:1-11
  • Power is in the mouth and there is power in the things we say or prophesy.
  • Certainly, the political class must have hated it-but David did God’s Divine will and no wonder God gave his lineage the Messiah, our Lord, Jesus Christ-whose blood redeems us in all areas of our lives (Ephesians 1:7).
  • Also take note of Proverbs 6:16-22; the 7 things that God hates most or detests like naughty eyes, lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that hurry to do wrong, a false witness and a person who sows discord in a family. – Thus pray against these limitation areas or points.
  • A drought is a dry area and hence a point of limitation. Drought could signify, childlessness, being jobless, landless etc. In this season of redemption, we need to ask God to end drought in our lives. *1 Kings 18:42-46
  • We need to tithe our time to the Lord. We don’t only tithe money but also our time.
  • Proverbs 6:1-5 save yourself by crying out to God to redeem you.
  • Thus our 7 days of prayer and fasting are prophetic and significant in dealing with the limitations in our lives like jobs, businesses, journeys, children, churches, land matters, sickness, finances, among others.
  • James 5:16 says, “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” or avails much like that of Elijah’s example. Read Psalms 40, Psalms 84:5-8
  • Don’t give up on praying. Don’t limit yourself in prayer. Shoot as many arrows in the enemies’ camp.

Prayer

Father God, may You send a mighty rainstorm of Blessings and shower your servants and children with awesome Blessings and end their (his/her) drought in Jesus Christ’s mighty name.
